I went to the Mad Anthonys Writers Conference this weekend--and got to go to the REALLY FUN Writer's Police Academy. We toured the Hamilton, OH, morgue (saw everything there, but not a real autopsy, but there were lots of internal body parts in jars on the shelf!), the police station (we went through everything, booking, peeked in the holding cells, saw the training room, interview rooms...so cool). I got to handle unloaded guns, police belts, vests...
For a 48 Hours/Dead Men Talking geek like me, it was a total blast. The great Lee Lofland put it together, along with the Mad Anthony people. He has pictures from the first day on his blog -- and there's plenty of yours truly in there because I was in Lee's group.

Hi Shirley,
ReplyDeleteMad Anthony was a blast. I have never had so much fun at a conference in my life. I think a big part was due to Lee Lofland.
Shirley,
ReplyDeleteIt was great to meet you at the conference--a really great conference, I should add. Also, your story about the long path to the publication of your first book was inspiring. (The unpublished like me need all the inspiration we can get.) Thanks for sharing the story.
