I also read the story of the "secret Santa". I've never been wealthy but I've often wished to do something like this. Until I had to go on disability, I at least gave to the Salvation Army as well as a few medical research clinics. Not being able to do so anymore is one of the things that not being able to work has taken from me. In fact, I've had to ask for help myself which does not sit well with me. I hope that I can return this money to the giver at some point or pass it on to someone else who's in need. I know a teen who's very intelligent but her teeth are totally screwed up. Her mother is on disability and they just don't have the money to pay for the orthodontics. If I don't have to give the money back, I'd like to give the money to her. It won't be enough, but maybe then others who know her will contribute.
Well done, Shirley. You are truly an inspiration. I have viewed your writing career for some years now and can see how being persistent pays off in spades, girl!
