Resolve...to Write?

Is one of your New Year's Resolutions this year to write a book? To finally get that manuscript in your desk submitted and sold? Or simply to FINALLY put pen to paper? Or, are you having trouble figuring out where to start? Just a little reminder...I do run a totally free, easygoing, online writing group, and in between deadlines, I teach workshops. Just for chuckles :-).

Here's the deal. The Just Write It group, as I have named it, has one Mantra. No complaining about writers' block. For one, I don't believe in Writer's Block. There's going to work every day...and there's procrastinating ;-). You go to work, and you write, and sometimes you get good stuff and sometimes you get awful stuff. But the point is, every day you spend writing is another day you spend learning...and another day you spend getting closer to your goal.

My answer to a lot of questions, too, is...you guessed it...Just Write It. You can't find out what you kind of writer you want to be unless you write. You can't find out if you like writing suspense unless you write. You can't actually LEARN to write unless you WRITE.

So if you've been dreaming of writing forever, and this is the year you wanted to make that dream a reality, consider joining the group. We're nice people, I promise ;-) One other thing...no promotion, no advertising, none of that Viagra, personal ads stuff. We're writers and we're serious about that. :-)

And if you're still just kicking around the idea, visit my website. There are a whole bunch of how-to articles under the For Writers tab.

Thanks for posting this! It sounds like fun. I'm off to join. By the way, you mentioned no promotion. I have my blog address in my signature. Is that an issue? It just has a quote I like and my blog address, nothing super blatant.

  2. Signatures are no big deal at all. I'm talking about the e-mail ads that are like "buy my stuffed animals on my website" kind :-) It's a writing only discussion list...so we try to keep it to that only. Other than that, it's pretty easy.
