A New Year...and a Thanks to Readers

It's a new year today, which means it'll take me about six months to start writing 2009 on my checks, LOL. If I stick to using my debit card to about June, I should be okay ;-)

I haven't been cooking hardly at all lately, hence the lack of recipes.I was working my son's Christmas workshop and did insta-meals for one week, then had basketball games with him the next week and did a lot of takeout. We went out of town for the holiday -- driving through a blizzard. Before that, we were hit by an ice storm here in Indiana and had a nice 27-hour stretch with no power. I was REALLY grateful to have a gas stove, because at least I could light the burners and cook some green beans and chicken. We also had eggs and bacon for breakfast. Eventually, enough time went by that we had to put the fridge contents outside, but considering it was minus 20 with the windchill, the yard was a pretty good temporary refrigerator ;-)

Now we're back home, and in a few days, we'll be back in the school groove, which means I'll be back behind the stove. Or at least that's my plan :-)

On the start of the new year, I wanted to begin by saying a HUGE THANK YOU to all my readers. Your letters and e-mails truly make my day. I am grateful for all of you, and your enthusiasm makes my job so much more fun than I ever dreamed.

Hope your New Year's Day is wonderful!

Shirley
