My Thoughts on Making Lists, Others Thoughts on Romance

Today is my turn to blog at Romancing the Blog. If you haven't been over there, you simply must visit. It's a great gathering of minds and opinions, and one of the best blogs out there, IMHO. Today happens to be my turn, and I blogged about the whole concept of To Do Lists.

As in, do I do one? :-)

After blogging about it, I compromised and created a task list in Outlook, then printed that along with my calendar. I never did quite catch on to the PDA thing. I know, I know. I have a computer, a laptop, a cell phone, a satellite radio, a DVR, but me and PDAs...we just don't get along. I lose the stylus, hate waiting for it to turn on (yeah, yeah, I know, it only takes a second), can't stand the tiny buttons, the tap-tap-tapping thing. I realize these things are becoming more popular and I'm slipping into the minority, but for me, a paper calendar that I can scribble on and add my grocery list to the back of, or jot down a phone number on, makes the best sense. I don't even do a Day Planner anymore. If I'm going to carry something that takes up that much room in my purse it better be Macy's coupons ;-)

Secondly, I read a REALLY GOOD article on the romance industry here. Very fair, and very well done.

Finally, I ran this morning, after not going since Thursday. Me and the Migraine Fairy have been duking it out for the last few days, but I woke up this morning WITHOUT A HEADACHE -- yeah! Yesterday, my four/five-day migraine cleared up around 10 a.m. and by late afternoon, I was writing again. I got fifteen pages done -- a record for me since migraines started consuming my days. So, I think the new meds, the exercise, etc., are working for now, and I'm going to take advantage today and really plow forward on the current book.

I ran 2.4 miles this morning, too. I should have peeked at my pedometer before I went home because I bet I could have gone 2.5 if I knew I was that close to the next tenth of a mile. Ah well, there's always tomorrow :-)

  1. I hear you on PDA's, bought my self a Palm Pilot and half the time I end up reloading my work calendar because I forget to use it and the battery dies. I live by my pocket calendar. I have 10 years or more in my cedar chest. It is my mini journal.
The migrane fairy must have been really busy this weekend as she flitted into my life on Friday night and didn't vamoose until yesterday.
YEH! Glad you got both the running in and got some work done...alas, I have to do the same now. Have a lovely evening.

  2. Hugs to you! May the Migraine Fairy go sprinkle her headaches somewhere else :-)

I love those planners that are like journals. I think if I didn't spend so much of my day writing already, I'd love to do more personal writing, too. But a good hunk of my day goes already to words :-)

  4. Shirley, you might've saved me some money with this entry! I've almost pulled the trigger on buying a PDA several times, but can't picture myself using it any more than I use my electronic address book (which is to say, not at all). I think it's just gadget fever talking when I walk into Office Depot and linger over the PDAs.

Good luck with getting the Migraine Witch to go away for good!

  5. Oh, I SO have gadget fever! You should see me in Office Depot, just salivating over things I don't even need. I love new toys. And I keep wanting a PDA even though I know I'll never use the silly thing. It's just techno-envy ;-)

  6. Andie,

The library! I had forgotten I could rent the second season from there. I'll have to do that. It'll save me loads of money at Blockbuster.
