Nothing Cute and Clever Today

I had a cute and clever blog all planned for today, but woke up to a rainy morning and the news that a good friend's husband had died suddenly. Monday was the one-year anniversary of my mother's death, too, and when I heard about my friend's husband, I just wanted to wake up my kids and DH and hug them all extra tight. Considering it's five in the morning here, I don't think they would have appreciated the gesture much.

My heart breaks for my friend. I know her husband was her rock, her foundation in a life that wasn't always easy, and I know the days ahead are going to be hard for her. I hope and pray I can be a good friend to her because we all know it's harder to actually be one than to say you'll be one.

And for all my readers...go hug the ones you love and give them an extra kiss today.
