There are days when really, I should just stay in bed.
So, DUH, I turn on the TV and there, indeed, is a whole slew of school delays and cancellations. My kids immediately forgave me for dragging them out of bed, shoved me away from the TV so they could turn on the Playstation.
Last night for dinner, we had steaks. I put McCormick Montreal Steak seasoning on them, and some kosher salt and grilled them on the stove top grill pan (you know those kind that are a grill on one side and a flat pancake griddle on the other). Then I made the new Green Giant microwave potatoes. Quite good, actually, esp. for microwave ones. Then I made glazed carrots. I think I've posted that recipe before -- just some brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmet. Or you can use Splenda, works just as well, just a slightly different taste. Easy-peasy dinner, done in a few minutes. The steak was AWESOME, and it stays juicy if you do what the pros tell you and let it rest for a few minutes before carving it up.
I got both the kids up, got them ready for school, had them waiting by the door for the car pool and was getting really aggravated because the car pool lady was running late (since I didn't have to drive today, I'd slept in a little, and was anxious to get to work). I'm grumbling about how now I'll have to get out of my jammies, throw on some jeans and get in my cold car to drive these kids to school, on these icy, snowy roads...
Icy, snowy roads.
You'd have thought the light bulb would have come on sooner than that, but hey, in my defense, there was only two inches of snow on the ground and I do come from Massachusetts where they never call school off, unless we're in near white-out conditions.

That picture, by the way, is my youngest, with our cat, Maggie, in her "house." Maggie is a curious cat, who will get into more trouble in a box than a herd of elephants in a shopping mall. She's watching him build a Bionicle, just waiting for a Lego to fall so she can bat it all over the house.

Another picture -- this from a book signing a few months ago in Kokomo at Don's Books. That's me on the right and Janice, one of my favorite readers :-). She's a real dedicated fan, who comes to a lot of my events. She missed the last one because she was sick, and I just wanted to tell her I hope she's feeling better and staying toasty in this snow.
Here's to a day off, one where I hope I still get work done even with the kids underfoot. Hey...maybe I should put them to work on the closets! ;-)

Listening to: Corinne Bailey Rae "Put Your Records On"
Reading: Magazines. Hey, I gotta get caught up on the world of fashion ;-)
Whew, for a second there I thought you were going to say you put the kinds in the closets and... (only kidding). Hey, enjoy the sounds of the little feet and the bantering; someday you'll blink your eyes and they'll be gone (I know).

Oh, I hear you! It's amazing to me already how fast they are growing. If I could rewind time, I would. Even the teenager seems to have gone from baby to teen in an instant!
