I just read a blog post on ProBlogger (okay, it's from May, but Allie, the owner of CataRomance.com, had forwarded it to one of her e-mail lists, so that's how I came across it) about tips for increasing reader interaction by making your readers famous.
I have to admit, there are days when I do wonder if I'm talking to myself here ;-)
But the post got me thinking. I know lots of my readers have blogs of their own, and when I know about them (and especially when I read them, too), I have them on my blogroll on the side there-->>
If you have a blog of your own that I don't know about, post it in the comments section (and as long as it's not a Viagra ad, I'll probably approve it.) Also, I've been looking for pictures to use here, too, and until I get my Blackberry's Bluetooth feature all worked out with my new laptop (gotta love Vista and how easy (NOT) it is to use)), I figured I'd find some share-able pics on Flickr. Well, that's one huge site :-).
So if you have a Flickr account and some pics you are sharing, LMK about that, too, and I'd be glad to promo you and your work here, fitting in some cool pics when I blog (could you be here when I cook dinner? LOL).
And if you're a foodie or an author with great recipes, LMK. I could always use a guest when I'm under deadline!
Shirley
LOL, Shirley, That's the second time you've mentioned Viagra in a week ;)
ReplyDeleteI have a blog (www.moniquedevere.blogspot.com), but it echoes and I spend enough time talking to myself with four children! So I don't tend to be a big blogger.
In fact, you dropped by once to check out my blog subject "what makes a book funny".
Hugs
Monique
Hi Shirley!! This post couldn't have come at a better time. I've been looking for things to do to start increasing my blog traffic over at http://onewritingmomma.blogspot.com and now I have some great ideas! I do have you in my blogroll, just the recipes alone are golden.
ReplyDeleteAnd see, here's proof your not talking to yourself!
Monique, you'd be surprised how many people stop by a blog (I always am when I look at my stats!). I may feel like I'm talking to myself, but there are people here, reading the recipes or the how to articles or maybe just staring into space while my blog is on in the background, LOL.
ReplyDeleteWritingmomma--thanks for the link!! And for the proof I'm not alone ;-)

Shirley, I visit! I'm subscribed through Google Reader and I love your blog for the very approachable way you deliver things. Of course, I also love the recipes.
ReplyDeleteAs my writing alterego, I have http://marilumann.blogspot.com where I talk about a variety of things (along with the other half of Marilu--we're a writing team.) We would adore sharing some Louisiana recipes with your readers!
And as my Tarot self, I have a blog dedicated to most things Tarot (I occasionally veer off into promo for Marilu Mann.) I do post things that are specific to writing and how to use Tarot for that as well. That's at http://tarotbyarwen.blogspot.com :) Thanks for the opportunity!
Hi Shirley,
ReplyDeleteI attended several of your presentations at Midwest Writers Workshop a couple weeks back-- that's how I knew about your site & blog (I'm the one who asked where to get the portable word processor, among other questions). And since I'm a recipe junkie, I guess I'll have to print some stuff off of your blog once in a while too :-)
My only blog right now pertains to figure skating, as most of my published pieces pertain to that (my main niche is actually video writing/producing). If you've got room to list it, please do... http://stateoftheskate.blogspot.com
Thanks for the opportunity, and all the other cool stuff you do!
Wow! Two VERY cool and VERY different blogs--tarot and skating!!! I see I have a lot of visiting to do in my future!!

Hi Shirley! I read your blog because I am a reader of your books and an aspiring writer. I have several blogs...one is my book reviews, one is a foodie/recipe blog, one is about crafting, and the other is everything in between! :)

I'd love to have you check them out. Thanks for letting us, as readers of yours, get to know you. :) I enjoy the recipes too!!!
You have me over in that blog roll...but my link has changed to www.andiesweetstuff.blogspot.com.
ReplyDeleteThanks...and I write about nothing and everything sweet and not so sweet in my life....;)
I might not comment much anymore, but I still lurk around...if nothing else to get Sophie updates! And besides...I AM mighty partial to ALL your books.
I'm hanging out in the shadows, too. I may even try a recipe or two since I do 99% of the cooking at my house. :)
ReplyDeleteShirley, I'd love to have you as a guest blogger on The Graveyard Shift. Let me know your thoughts.
Hi there Shirley... as you know an avid reader and visitor from the land down under!
ReplyDeleteI too have a blog... I have commenced on the road to achieving my started lifelong dream of writing (inspired by you no less a number of years ago!) Not sure if relevant to your traffic... here it is:

ReplyDeleteShirley
Andie, I'll be sure to get over and update the blogroll this week -- thanks for letting me know about the new URL! :-)
ReplyDeleteShirley
Lee! Thanks for visiting again -- and I hope you enjoy the recipes! I have a few more I need to get up there this week that I tried over the last couple days (then the weekend is all leftovers...giving me a break :-).
ReplyDeleteAnd I'd love to blog for you! Just say when! :-)
Shirley
Please check my blog out:

LOL Shirley. Since I haven't been able to get past the "fear of the blank page" and HAVE to write something, it's worked for me so far. My full time day job is getting in the way though! LOL If I could only loose that!
ReplyDeleteTHanks for posting the recipes you do...I've tried a couple of them and they rock!
Hi, Shirley, I have a food blog that I think you might enjoy. http://carolsfoodbites.blogspot.com

Thanks for the blog links, everyone!
ReplyDeleteAnd bousmama, so glad you are writing and enjoying the recipes!!

After blogging for two and a half years and writing about food sometimes, I finally started adding recipes NOW. Don't know why I hadn't thought of it sooner, but people were asking for recipes, and the light bulb went on. Enough babbling -- here's the link:
